Focus and Scope

Jurnal Al-Azhar Indonesia Seri Sains dan Teknologi is an academic journal for the science and technology fields, published every January, May, and September. Jurnal Al-Azhar Indonesia Seri Sains dan Teknologi has been managed by the Office of Research, Innovation, and Community Empowerment at Universitas Al-Azhar Indonesia since 2011. Jurnal Al-Azhar Indonesia Seri Sains dan Teknologi publishes research papers on industrial engineering, electrical engineering, informatics, biology, food technology, and nutritional science topics.

Peer Review Process

The review process policies in Jurnal Al-Azhar Indonesia Seri Sains dan Teknologi are as follows:

1. Each paper manuscript sent by the author will be reviewed by a reviewer with a background appropriate to the topic.

2. The reviewer will not be in the know regarding the author's identity, neither will the author know the reviewer's identity. 

3. The review process will consider novelty, objectivity, method, scientific impact, conclusion, and references.


 

Publication Code of Ethic

Scientific Publication Code of Ethics

(Indonesian Institute of Sciences' Regulation No. 5 Year 2014)


The Scientific Publication Code of Ethics essentially upholds three ethical values in publishing:

(I) Neutrality, freedom from conflict of interests in publication management

(II) Fairness, giving authorship rights to those who deserve it as authors

(III) Honesty, free of duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publication


Academic Journal Management's Duties & Responsibilities

1. Determines the title of the journal, it's scopes, publishing frequency, and accreditation as needed

2. Appoint editorial board members

3. Defines the relationship between publisher, editor, peer reviewer, and other parties in a contract

4. Uphold secrecy for contributing researchers, authors, editors, and peer reviewers

5. Apply norms and conditions related to intellectual property rights, especially copyrights

6. Examine the journal's policies and convey them to the authors, editorial board, peer reviewers, and readers

7. Create a code of conduct for editors and peer reviewers

8. Publish the journal regularly

9. Secure funding for continued publication of the journal

10. Build a network of collaboration and marketing

11. Prepare licensing and other legal aspects


Editors' Working Principles and Ethical Standards

1. Responsibility over the choice of content for the journal

2. Obligation to create a guide for authors

3. Evaluate and criticize that the paper submitted is free from violations of ethics, honest, objective, and free from bias in deciding peer reviewers

4. Ensure paper examination processes is done holistically, transparently, objectively, and fairly.


Editors’ Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Bring together the needs of authors and readers

2. Strive for the continuous betterment of the publication's quality

3. Apply a process to ensure the quality of papers published

4. Prioritize the freedom of opinion objectively

5. Maintain the integrity of the author's academic track record

6. Convey corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies if needed

7. Responsibility over authors' writing style and formatting, while the contents and all statements contained in the papers are the authors' responsibility

8. Actively seek the opinions of authors, readers, peer reviewers, and editorial board member to improve the publication's quality

9. Urge for an evaluation of the journal if a new discovery is made

10. Support initiative to minimize errors in research and publication by requesting an Ethical Clearance form approved by an Ethical Clearance Commission from the authors

11. Support initiatives to educate authors on publication ethics

12. Study the effects of publishing policies on the bearings of authors & peer reviewers and rectify them to increase responsibility and minimize errors

13. Have an open mind towards new opinions or differing views that may conflict with personal opinions

14. Not defend personal opinions, authors, or third parties which may incur unobjective decisions

15. Urge authors to revise their papers to a publishable standard


Peer Reviewers’ Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Receive assignments from the editor to review a paper and relay the review results to the editor as decisive factor in the papers appropriateness to be published

2. Reviewer must not review works related to themselves, whether directly or indirectly

3. Ensure the privacy of the authors by not spreading the corrections, suggestions, and recommendations through criticism, suggestion, propositions, and recommendations

4. Urge the authors to revise their papers

5. Reexamine the revised papers according to the determined standards

6. Papers are to be reviewed in a timely manner according to the publisher's timeline based on scientific principles (data gathering methods, legality of the author, conclusion, etc.)


Authors’ Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Authors must ensure the names entered into the list of authors fulfill the criteria of an author

2. Take collective responsibility for the work put into the article and its contents

3. State the origin of the resources (including funding) used directly or indirectly

4. Explain the limitations of the research

5. Immediately respond to the comments made by peer reviewers in a professional and timely manner

6. Inform the editors if a retraction is to be made

 

Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Jurnal AL-AZHAR INDONESIA SERI SAINS DAN TEKNOLOGI incurs charges on the authors as follows:

(Charges apply for submissions on the 1st of January 2023 and onwards)

Article Submission: Rp 0,-

Article Publication: Rp 600.000,-

Authors must pay the publication fee after their article has been accepted through a Letter of Acceptance (LoA)
