Faktor-Faktor yang Memengaruhi Keputusan Menikah Siri pada Pekerja Migran Indonesia di Negara MN

Abstract

This study examines factors influencing the decision to enter an unregistered marriage (nikah siri) among Indonesian migrant workers in MN. The study uses a qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews involving five Indonesian migrant workers and thematic analysis. Findings show that the decision is shaped by administrative barriers, economic limitations, emotional needs, religious norms, and acceptance within migrant communities. These factors operate through attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control, making nikah siri appear to be the most feasible option in conditions of migration. The findings also indicate that limited access to documents, time, costs, and information reduces perceived control over formal marriage registration, while emotional support and social acceptance strengthen favorable attitudes toward nikah siri. The study concludes that the decision is not solely an individual choice but is influenced by vulnerable living conditions and limited access to legal and administrative resources. The findings support the need for accessible legal information, psychosocial support, and simpler marriage registration services for migrant workers.
